Where Will Homeless Families Stay Tonight?

Goodnight Santa in your sleigh
Can you bring me a place to stay?
Goodnight Santa I barely cried
All I want is a place to come inside
No mother should have to reassure her child that Santa will find them in their car, or worse, explain why he won’t. She shouldn’t have to wonder if she will spend Christmas Day inside, or if she’ll find a holiday dinner to feed her children.
Winter is here, and like you, we are committed to bringing women and children off the streets and giving them a warm, safe place to stay at night. And thanks to you, we are making that goal a reality!
Turning our old location at Bell Street into an emergency family shelter hasn’t been easy. Raising the money, untangling the red tape, making seismic upgrades, getting the building ready, finding the staff…sometimes it seemed overwhelming. But every time we’ve hit a wall, someone has opened a door.
Our supporters have provided money, bedding and blankets, formula and diapers; our volunteers came with hammers and paint; our friends have moved mountains, and our partners came alongside us to make the Emergency Family Shelter a reality. Because of you, we will open the doors to our first families in time for the holidays!
Together with the Union Gospel Mission, Mary’s Place will open the Emergency Family Shelter in early December. We will welcome 48 moms and kids inside every night to share a meal, do laundry, take a warm shower, help with homework, and find a safe place to sleep. Most importantly, at the shelter these families will find community, and acceptance.
The shelter will open in December, but we need your help to keep the doors open.
Can you make a year-end gift to support the Emergency Family Shelter? Small or large, your financial gifts help keep the lights on and the building warm! You can donate online at www.marysplaceseattle.org, or call Marty Hartman at Mary’s Place to discuss other options: 206-621-8474
Our Wish List of items we need at the shelter includes twin bed bedding and blankets, baby diapers and formula, Pack ‘n Plays, toys, computers, Sippy Cups and high chairs. For the full list, check the website blog.
On behalf of our women and children at Mary’s Place, thank you for helping to make the Emergency Family Shelter a reality!
An Open House at the new Emergency Family Shelter Thursday from 5PM to 7PM!
Together with Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission, Mary’s Place will open an Emergency Family Shelter at our old Belltown location next week, 314 Bell St, Seattle! The EFS will provide a warm, dry bed to 48 women and their children, and provide a safe place for them to sleep at night in an accepting, loving community.
Join us for an Open House to meet the team and see how we’ve fixed up the space in anticipation of the first families to come inside!
