The Representative. Slang for one’s alter ego or what the Average Joe portrays in order to create the ‘bestest ever’ impression to fellow Average Joes. However, could it be the reason why couples are constantly complaining about how their partners change after 6 months?
A friend boasted that his ex-wife never used the bathroom their entire marriage. No wonder they got divorced. Poop, #2, the brown derby… Whatever you want to call it is a natural part of life. Another friend, who believed that women had their place in a relationship, couldn’t understand what happened to his ex when she stopped cooking, cleaning, taking care of the house and her “wifely” duties, all while running a business and taking care of two kids. Simply put, she was tired.

The Representative is, to say the least, crafty. With subtle hints of ambiguity and a desperate need to be accepted, The Representative positions herself for failure.
Embracing your positive characteristics is wonderfully stimulating. Similar to those deeply wrenched butterflies one gets after a meeting the person of your dreams. So, let’s toss the PC’isms acceptable societal standards of what is appropriate dating behavior and just be ourselves. Fall in love with your uniqueness, vulnerabilities and subjectivities. I know you’ve heard it a hundred times before. Maybe read it in a popular blog or in a New York Bestseller. But trust me: it’s warm and cozy relishing in the bask of you.
