The Power of Thoughts and Words

When I sat down to write this article so many thoughts went through my head.
Did you know it takes three positive thoughts to counter one negative thought? The average person has over 50,000 thoughts a day. Go ahead stop thinking… now your thinking how to stop thinking… When the average person has 50,000 thoughts per day and let’s say 1/3 are negative (approx..16,500)you will need an additional 50,000 thoughts to counter those negative ones. Our thoughts make us happy, sad, mad, frustrated and excited. When we break this down to it shows the power in our thoughts. Our thoughts create our feelings, our feelings, our feelings create our words, our words create our actions, and our actions create our habits. One study found that up to 45% of our daily actions are habits.

We create our most dominate thoughts whether they are positive or negative. When our words don’t match what we want to create we need to change those word choices, so they align with what we desire in our reality. Our thoughts and words propel us into action or stop us in our tracks. The easiest way is to bring attention and awareness to the words we are using on a daily basis. Let’s face it some of these words have been part of our entire life. Studies show it takes 21 days to develop something new into your daily actions.

What if I was to tell you that by removing a few words from your vocabulary you could create instantaneous results in your communication with yourself and others? Who doesn’t want more and to make your bucket list reality? Sound good?

To empower your communication begin by removing these words, Try, Can’t and But

Try implies failure to the subconscious mind. Think about for a moment when someone has said they’d try to get back to you? Did they? Or maybe saying I’m going to try to go to the gym? Most likely in both scenarios they didn’t become reality. It tells your subconscious mind that it’s really not that important to you and that’s why it’s easy to forget.

Can’t simple tells your subconscious that you either don’t want to do it or your don’t know how to. Decide what it is and either get to work or release it. My favorite example of this was my son, he needed to memorize a noun rap, he said “he can’t do it” “I responded with you either don’t know how to or you don’t want to” When you decide be aware of your consequence. So he buckled down and learned the noun rap.

But negates everything that goes before.
I want to loose weight but I need to eat better, I’m going to increase my running speed but I need to run sprints. I want to meet with you but that time doesn’t work. When you catch yourself using but replace it with and. I’m going to loose weight and I need to eat better. I’m going to increase my running speed and I will run sprints. I want to meet with you and that time doesn’t work. In some cases where and doesn’t flow use except or however.

The next two words are words that influence lack of confidence to your subconscious mind. They are If and Hope. These words send a message to the subconscious mind that lacks confidence and security.

If: When you use the word if it lacks confidence in the achievement. If I exercise daily I will get in shape, If I finish the ½ marathon, I will be happy. Replace if with when, When I exercise daily I will get in shape. When I finish the ½ Marathon, I will be happy.

Hope: I hope I loose weight, I hope I get the job, I hope I finish the triathlon. The best way to fully experience the power in our words to say them out loud and listen. Which way empowers you? Replace hope with Know, I know I will loose weight, I know I will get the job, I know I will finish the Triathlon.

In closing choose to use words that that program the best possible outcome. When we speak with words that empower us, we speak with wealth. At the end of the day it’s the thoughts that create our words, our words that create our actions!
