Denice C. Keepin, MA, LMHC, consultant, teacher, and psychotherapist, has specialized in treating eating issues since 1987. Her show, “Keepin’ Healthy, Body and Soul’, emerged from her desire to provide a safe and relaxed venue for people to talk frankly about the emotional issues, thinking patterns, habits and behaviors that cause us to “get in our own way” in our relationship to food/eating/exercise and weight management.

As Denice puts it: Over the years, I have noticed consistent patterns in how we human beings, myself included, can get in our own way and prevent ourselves from achieving happiness and fulfillment in life.  Thanks to all the people I have been privileged to work with, I have developed several methods of identifying those unhelpful patterns of thinking and behavior, especially concerning eating and weight issues. This show is a forum for people to feel safe to talk about these issues and consider challenging themselves to try out the tips I suggest; to talk with me and my guests about what they are learning about taking care of their bodies and minds, as well as their hearts and soulsas they change their relationship to food and eating.

Denice received her Masters in Therapeutic Psychology from Seattle University in 1987 and lived and worked in the UK for 5 years (1992-1997) with her husband and three children. She trained at the Institute of Family Therapy in London and received consultation from Susie Orbach, radical thinker, eating issues specialist and author of Fat is a Feminist Issue. In addition to teaching, providing consultation and providing individual and couples therapy, Denice leads several groups a week in Seattle teaching people how to better manage stress and anxiety around eating issues, fitness and body image in order to increase their happiness and health and bring richness and satisfaction to their daily lives.
