Introduction to Bounce – Be Transformed
Published on June 10th, 2011 9:00 AM, by Lana Staheli No CommentsBounce is a way of life based on commitment to growth and transformation. We can change ourselves and our lives by
being intentional in our thoughts and choices, creating lives filled with joy and meaning. We are born with Bounce, the ability to grow and change, to continually become better, and to always be in transformation. Life is complex and so are we, but change is natural, and unlike any other being on earth, we can change what we feel, what we believe, and what we do by changing our mind—otherwise we would still be living in a nice little cave somewhere in Africa.
The human brain is highly adaptable, and the newest region of the brain allow us to compile, sort, and reconfigure what we know. We can change how we think about ourselves and the people around us. We can rethink our past and through our thinking change our future. We can change our minds, our lives, and the world by learning Bounce.
Bounce is a way of living that gives us the foundation to create a life based on joy and meaning. It requires only thought and intention—qualities we already possess. We all have Bounce; we use it after everyday hassles and inconveniences, and we can bounce and rebound after devastating events. Or at least that is what we are supposed to do, but sometimes with the pace and complexity of life we forget and let little things become too big. We even start to believe that we don’t have time to care for ourselves, but we do-we must!
Living life at warp speed leaves us pumped up on our own hormones. For the purpose of Bounce we are focusing on two kinds of hormones, steroids and endorphins. Steroids are naturally produced stress hormones. High levels of steroid hormones are linked to ailments that lessen our quality of life and lead to disease and early death. Heart disease, the #1 killer of both men and women, is linked to high levels of steroids. Cancer, stroke, breathing problems, accidents, anorexia, migraines, chronic fatigue, irritable bowel syndrome, obesity and a host of other health problems are all affected by high levels of steroids related to stress.
Stress has become a popular focus over the past few decades. With Bounce we believe it is better to focus on what we do want—good health. Just try saying aloud, “I feel so stressed.” You will notice yourself tense up. Now take a deep breath and say aloud, “I feel relaxed.” Don’t you feel calmer? Most people do. Our thoughts and words take us toward producing either steroids or endorphins.
Endorphins are hormones that strengthen the immune system, repair cells, relieve pain, counter the effects of stress and delay aging. Bounce focuses on creating endorphins to naturally insure our ability to live life at our 90%+ level. Forget what you don’t like about you. Think and talk about being your best and you will begin to be transformed.
Our desire to change and transform ourselves toward being our best is deeply embedded in our nature and is as powerful as our need to eat or sleep. It is our choice to focus on our strengths, those abilities that bring us joy, and create endorphins. Learn more about endorphins and steroids in our book, Bounce Be Transformed–Change your mind, change your life, change the world!
Dr. Lana says, Make a list of memories, activities, talents or abilities you have that bring you joy. These are your strengths-be intentional about bringing these strengths to the forefront of your thoughts and choices.
