STRESS!!!
The holidays can bring a lot of stress to our lives. So can many other life events. What sort of things do you do to support your body through these stressful times??
Some good ideas would be:
1. Deep breathing. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth slowly and about 5-6 times. You should notice a difference in how you feel and will hopefully feel more relaxed. Tip-hold your breath at the top of your inhale for a couple of seconds before letting it out and then hold for a couple of seconds after you exhale before you inhale again.
2. Take a good quality B-vitamin. Your mulitvitamin should provide you with enough b-vitamins but if it's not then take an extra b-vitamin to help support your nervous system.
3. Try taking L-Theanine at 200mg a dose to help calm your anxiety. L-Theanine increases GABA in the brain which is the calming neurotransmitter in the brain. You can take it during the day and it will just calm you down not make you sleepy. Take on an empty stomach.
4. Get some good sleep. Sleep is the all time healer of many things that ail us. If you aren't sleeping well then try some L-Tryptophan an hour or so before bed. This will help increase serotonin which will help make Melatonin. Melatonin is important for good quality sleep. Serotonin is also good for decreasing depressive symptoms.
5. Exercise!! This increases endorphins which are the body's natural pain killer and also helps us to feel good.
6. Don't eat too much sugar! Sugar suppresses the immune system and increases our body fat. That's stress enough!
Have a relaxing holiday season.
