This health tip is for the men in our lives.
When it comes to going to the doctor the majority of patients are women and children. Yes there are men that go to the doctor but it's usually after there is a major problem or a symptom that has been going on for a long time. Case in point. 1 in 3 men over the age 60 will develop prostate cancer. Most men with prostate cancer will out live the effects of the cancer but some forms of prostate cancer are very invasive and should not go unchecked.
PSA is one way to screen for prostate problems but not the only way to rule out prostate cancer. This is a good incentive to have your husband, boyfriend, dad, brother, uncle or grandfather go in and have some blood work to check their PSA and get their Vitamin D levels checked too since Vit D helps to protect against prostate cancer. Ideally a digital exam would be good too if he is over 50 OR having any urinary symptoms such as getting up at night frequently to go and difficulty getting the stream started.
We love our men and want them around a long time so encourage them to go get checked!!
