I’ll get seasick.
Some passengers do occasionally suffer from motion sickness but today’s modern ships are all stabilized and designed to reduce rolling and pitching. The best cabins to prevent seasickness are midship on the lower decks. Certain pills and sea bands, put on your wrist, have been known to help prevent seasickness.
I’ll be bored.
Many cruise ships publish a daily newspaper and activity schedule to keep you busy and entertained while on board.
There are numerous daily activities such as bingo, trivia games, lectures and classes such as cooking or wine tasting. Alternatives that you will find on some ships are miniature golf courses, putting greens, batting cages, basketball, volleyball, tennis courts and fitness centers. You can treat yourself to massages, facials and saunas. You can be active or relaxed as you wish – the choice is up to you.
Evening entertainment includes lavish production shows and cabaret acts, comedians, and late night discos.
Ports of call provide exciting diversions and discovery. You can venture out on your own or take a cruise pre-arranged tour.
Everyone on the ship is old.
It used to be the case, but as cruising has become more popular, it has also grown more appealing to younger passengers as well. The majority of cruisers today are between 48 and 59 and a tie between the age group of 25 to 39 and 39 to 60.
Cruising is too regimented.
Cruising has never offered more options, variety, choice and informality than it does today. The cruise lines realize that today’s passengers do not want or need regimentation on their vacations because they already have an overwhelming amount in their daily lives. Passengers are now offered the option to choose when, where and with whom they dine, what types of entertainment they enjoy, and a wide selection of shore excursions besides the normal bus tours. There is an increasing emphasis on passenger comfort in terms of dress and informality on board.
All there is to do is eat.
With the trend towards healthier living and eating habits of today, the cruise lines have changed their tune. You can still eat full breakfast, snacks, buffet lunch on deck, full lunch in the dining room, dinner, the midnight buffet and late night snacks – but healthier foods, lighter meals and spa cuisine are also offered. One must never sacrifice taste and enjoyment on a cruise when eating healthy and you won’t.
Bon Voyage!
